PRO 2021 Excursions

To give all our members something to look forward too in 2021, PRO and Narcoa are listing all runs in preliminary form . As the runs get formalised the details will be updated and you will be able sign up for them.

Lets all hope the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions will ease and we will have lots of time on the rails.

June 4-7 - PRO 2021 MONTANA TOUR

Pacific Railcar Operators is pleased to announce the 2021 “Montana Tour” to be held June 4-7. Initial seton at Central Montana Rail Inc. at Denton, MT 3:00-5:00 pm Friday June 4. A 40 mile rdt evening run will follow after seton. Saturday, June 5th, participants will run Denton to Moccasin over 4 large steel trestles and through one 2,000 ft tunnel for 94 rdt miles. Gorgeous scenery, interesting former Milwaukee Road and Great Northern track and plentiful wildlife in this remote section of Montana. Sunday June 6 is a travel day (you will travel the southern border of Glacier National Park over Marias Pass during your trip. GNP mountains, the BNSF mainline and the Blackfoot Indian Reservation will be treats along the way.)

We will seton at Fortine, MT in the NW corner of the state Sunday evening. This is a piece of the former Great Northern mainline now operated by Mission Mt RR. Sunday, after seton, we will do a run to Eureka and back 24 rdt miles. Monday, June 7,we’ll travel the entire railorad from Fortine to Stryker, to Eureak and back to Fortine. 44 rdt miles of high iron and goregeous mountain scenery near the Canadian border.

24 April-2 May Joint & PRO MOW runs Northern California

PRO (Carl Shellhorn) and MOW (Rick Smith) Announce a Spring Run on the Napa Wine Train Tracks on Saturday, April 24, followed by a different looking MOW (Rick Smith & Dave Balestreri) Spring Run at the Western Railway Museum on Sunday, April 25. There is also a Spring Run on the Amador Central in Ione the following weekend, Saturday, May 1, which Tom Correa graciously rescheduled to accommodate our 2 runs the weekend before. Also, we are working on a possible MOW run on Sunday, May 2 at Niles Canyon. Save the dates and check the websites for sign up information. Cooperation and Supporting all the affiliates keeps the wheels from rusting and the railroads from disappearing. Now is the time to get your car ready to go. Hope to see you all on the rails soon.

June 10-13 - Coos Bay Rail Line

Run fee of $510 includes catered Friday nite Welcome Dinner in Coos Bay for 2, as well as 2 breakfasts on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. Coos Bay Red Lion is giving us a great rate for our two nights there; participants will book and pay individually. A bloc of rooms is held for PRO, booking info , as well as complete details/information, in your packet which you receive upon registration.

No hy-rails, friendly-on leash dogs welcome, contact EC if belt drive car, no vaping. Boots, hi-vis vest, spark arrestor , and radio required, mentoring with EC permission. PRO General order #6 is in effect.

June 25-27 - Joseph, OR

Thank you for your interest in the Island City, OR to Joseph, OR run, June 25 – 27, 2021. We are planning to set on Friday afternoon/evening, June 25th. Saturday morning, we will ride on the Idaho Northern and Pacific railroad to Elgin Or. After a break, we will travel on the Wallowa Union railroad to Joseph, OR. We will turn our cars, and following a short break, return to Enterprise, OR to spend the night. Sunday morning, we return to Island city and set off. 166 RT miles This is a spectacular scenic rail line, rich in history, into many roadless areas and along sparkling rivers

August 19-22 - Coos Bay Rail Line

A spectacular 3 day 235 mile round trip from Vaughn "OR" to Coquille "OR" and return through the coast range, down through the coastal lakes and the massive Oregon sand dunes. The run fee is $510 which includes 2 seats at the catered welcome dinner and two breakfasts for Saturday and Sunday. We have a block of rooms reserved in Coos Bay for Friday and Saturday night. Booking details will be found in the run Brochure.

Pacific Railcar Operators is pleased to announce our annual Teddy Bear Toy Express excursion, gathering toys for the annual Rotary toy drive as we progress through gorgeous scenery, including 9 tunnels, swing bridges, rivers, track over lakes, forests, and sand dunes until we reach the ocean.

Run fee includes catered Friday night Welcome dinner and Saturday and Sunday breakfasts for two. PRO has reserved a block of rooms at the Coos Bay Red Lion who have given us a great rate of $95 per night for our two night stay; participants will book and pay individually. - contact information is included in the packet you receive upon your excursion registration.
